Home 😐 23/7/18

Earlier morning today as carol & Amelia leave for work /school at 7.15. Mark chopped some wood & I gave Barry a hand indoors before we packed up and left about 8.30.
Below are some pics taken at our friends.

A couple of lazy cows in the back paddock

Part of their road Amelia & I  rode on.

Heading home for a few days as Mark's still not happy with the bike rack.

Stopped off at my parents house to collect some steel for a new rack & stayed for dinner.

Kogan 22/7/18

Barry cooked bacon n eggs again this morning for breakfast but we chose to eat inside as it was freezing. When we finally started to thaw the boys went to the tip & Amelia and I went for a bike ride of about 7 kms.

Their road, rough in patches.
After lunchtime everyone had a snooze.
Mark, Barry & I played Yahtzee outside in the sun for awhile until the sun dropped behind the trees and the temperature plummeted!. We moved the game inside by the fire and Carol joined us while Amelia finished her homework.
After a delicious camp pot dinner by Carol we chit chatted for a bit and called it an early night.

Chinchilla 21/7/18

After the boys did more boy stuff, like fixing water pipes, and Amelia  chopped wood for the fire we went in to  Chinchilla to have lunch and play tourist while Amelia went to the movies with her friends.

After a very yummy chinese lunch we walked across the road to an information area.

Rotary water wheel

This building was inundated with water almost to the top of the windows on the first floor

An old bank building
Then we headed off for a wander around the pioneer cemetry.

Outside the cemetery was an old piece of a petrified wood.
Barry suggested we visited some water features next.

Cattle were grazing at the lagoon.  The area is in need of some decent rain.

Round water hole looks like a lovely spot for free camping

We checked out the flood water marks for the town.

Stopped at Archers crossing before going home to cook a lamb roast for dinner.

After a huge meal Barry headed to bed, Amelia watched a movie & Mark, Carol & I  had a few games of sequence.
The temperature dropped to MINUS 3 overnight.

A few days in Kogan Friday 20/7/18

After leaving home mid morning we stopped at the Howard post office to complain , again,  about our redirected mail still going to our house.  A quick visit to Sarah to drop off the remaining contents of the freezer and we were off on another adventure.
Morning tea was a picnic in Kilkivan followed by a nice warming coffee at a  café.
Kilkivan township

Then it was on to the Crossley's for a few nights. On the way we had to slow down for a 'long paddock ' Hundreds of cows feeding along the roads.

No sooner was the camper set up than the boys were up on Barry's house roof checking out the problem with the solar hot water panels. They were not fixable so down they came.
We had my home made pea & ham soup for dinner. It was the first time I had ever had it and got kudos from all ☺
We had a few games of Labyrinth before heading out in the cold to our camper. So thankful Mark put an electric blanket on the bed because the temperature got down to  zero ❄

Granite creek 4.7.18

Our excitement for the day, watching a goanna trying to find its way back through the fence

Mark making a space for the goanna to escape. Which he did.
Sleep in and a leisurely pack up. As we left at 9.30 someone took our spot. It's a very popular place. We stopped at Finger Board roadhouse, not far from Agnes Water, for coffee.
Camped up at granite creek rest area by lunchtime. Not much to do & very little phone reception or internet. After going for a short walk, showering and sitting in the sun reading for awhile it started raining so we moved inside. More reading, eating and playing board games. We will be home for tomorrow night before heading to the goldcoast and then Sydney.
I might suck at darts but I am the uno & sequence queen!

Agnes Waters 3.7.18

I got up early this morning to wander down to the beach to watch the sunrise. Spectacular just doesn't seem right.
Panorama of the sunrise

The glow on the rocks made everything look golden.

This morning we rode into the town of 1770 to do the touristy thing. While it was a lovely ride my granny gear got a workout on the hills.

The view from Captain Cook's monument

view at Roundhill

looking back to the marina

view from another lookout

Mark being a mountain goat climbing up

The view was worth the climb, even if I didn't quite make it to the very top
Heading back we detoured to check out where we use fly to for picnics. The area sure looks different now.

Another riding track we found.
Then it was home in time for a free Pilates class and a swim.
we went in search of a quiet beach

not quite swimming but at least I got wet, not like he who shall remain nameless who said it was too cold 😂

Part of the headland
Another busy day, sure hope I sleep well tonight.
