Day 20 Cairns. 12.6.18

Our camp site in Cairns. Huge park for families with loads to entertain the children.

Water park

I elected to have a coffee this morning instead of going for a walk. We were leaving before 8 so I had to get organised. Greg kindly offered to drive me to the station. I went up to Kuranda on the scenic railway with the others while Mark elected to drive up. We were only in Luanda a couple of months ago so he didn't mind driving. I really enjoyed the train ride, it took 2 hrs, stopping at 1 station to let people on and another station so we could get out at view the gorge and waterfalls.

We basically had the carriage to ourselves until the first stop.

Our train arriving

Mark was waiting for us when we pulled into Kuranda station.

After a quick morning tea stop with these characters

It was on to the butterfly sanctuary

Mating Ulysses's. Male lives for 3 days, the female for 5 days. She sedated him when mating!

The butterflies were landing on our hats.

the cutest butterfly? 😂

This one was my favourite. The red & yellow colours are to warn predators that they are poisonous (not always true)

After dinner we went off to the outdoor movie again. This time we watched Flubber with Robin Williams.
