Day 21 23.08.18 Ilfracombe

After a reasonably quiet and warmer night I packed up while Mark repaired yet another flat tyre. We saw 3 Brolgas as we were leaving the camp ground .

We drove the 4kms in to Longreach, parked up and spent the day wandering around the town.
Swan street. Wasn't allowed to bring the sign home 😑
             ⬆⬇Outside the kinnon store

Mark was impressed with the wooden wheels ⬆ and the pedals ⬇

Lots of old pubs seem to have burnt down.
We visited the Powerhouse museum. Too much smelly boy stuff for me 😂

Compulsory to wear a hard hat.
                        Old record player.
My former MiL tried to teach me to sew on one of these.
I remember taking a box brownie to a school camp.
                              An old classroom.

The history of some weird thing called an iron!!

It was quite smelly in the engine room.

We had a wringer washing machine when i was a kidlet.
             Cabinet makers laminating press.

Mark went off to the dentist and had his tooth repaired again and I did some grocery shopping, before we drove the 27kms to Ilfracombe, where we are camped behind the Wellshot hotel. After setting up we wandered down the street to the thermal spa for a while.  The water temperature wasn't very hot so we only stayed for half an hour.

We had dinner at the pub unexpectedly, we only went over to have a cup of tea. The vegetable bar looked too tempting and we ate too much yet again. Another couple from WA joined our table and we chatted for a couple of hours.

No photos tonight as reception keeps floating in and out. Will add them at a future date.

  1. Genuinely not surprised you tried to steal the sign.
