Day 23 25.08.18 Emerald

A few spots of rain during a warm and windy night.
 Storm brewing, hopefully.

Town water is through 2 artesian bores.

We are moving on but not sure where to. We want to explore the little towns of Jericho and Alpha, and will find somewhere along the way, possibly Emerald. Driving out of Barcaldine there was quite a few puddles so there must have been rain. No where near enough as everything is dry and dying.

The town of Jericho ⬇Everything was closed in Jericho so we meandered and moved on without a coffee 😕 Most of the town seems to be up for sale.

                   As described below

Murals seem to be popular in nearly every town we have stopped in.

                Another rather large mural.

Town of Alpha ⬇where the bakery runs out of pies before mid day.  This town is a little bigger than Jericho and a few shops were open. Had a look around the craft shop & lunch at the bakery before wandering the main street.

                More murals.

                  Old machinery on display

On the way to Emerald we stopped at a couple of interesting things along the way.

We were so happy to see hills again, everything has been really flat for the past couple of weeks.

                            The rail line.

After refueling in Emerald it was time to find a camp spot.  The Showgrounds had a car show with a circus next door so we opted to free camp outside the botanical gardens. Will be noisy 😕 but its by the gardens picnic area and close to the river.
The river is a pretty shade of green .

Beautiful flowers line the street .
We had thunder  lightening and rain with our sunset.
