Day 31 5.11. 18 Elmore, Victoria 79km

Bit of rain overnight saw me dashing out the door to grab my washing in at 1am.

We started our exploring in Bendigo with a trip to Bendigo pottery where i purchased a couple of treasures.




Then it was on to a tram for a ride through town,  getting off at the mine but not doing the tour.




Central Deborah Gold Mine ⬆opened in 1939 and closed in 1954. It reopened in 1986 for underground tourist tours.

 Then we jumped on to another tram and jumped off in the center of town to explore on foot.
Alexandra fountain, made from Harcourt granite, standing 8.2m high and 16m wide.

The stunning Sacred heart cathedral ⬇started being built in 1897 but wasn't finished until 1977.

The cross on top of the spire stands 7m high and weighs 3tonnes.

We walked a million miles 😉 to the science center to discover it is closed on Mondays .
So we walked another million miles to the tram depot as we just missed the train by 2 minutes due to a call of nature.

The tram depot was completed in 1903 and is the oldest continually operating depot in Australia .

Then it was back on to another tram to visit the Joss House Temple, originally built in the 1870s. It is 1 of 2 still used as a temple today in Australia .

After fueling the car we decided to call it a day .

We have headed northish out of Bendigo towards Echuca and are free camped beside the Campaspe river at the Aysons reserve in Elmore. The facilities are lacking but the water is lovely. I went in up to my knees.
